Stonefly Dry Fly |
Okay then. The Deschutes is finally under 6000 cfs out of Pelton. And the moment we've all been waiting for....Salmon Flies. No, it's not "On like Donkey Kong" as of yet. We are getting very close. I sensed a disturbance in the force just this morning. The force was very strong in this one. Upon further research I discovered that the low river temp yesterday was 51 and the high was 53. Well...where are they? They're below the White River right now and slowly migrating toward Maupin. Seriously. Nobody has it figured out yet. So it goes. If the weather continues to improve over the weekend, the fishing should go crazy. As for now, nymphing with large stone patterns along the edges of the fast water should light'em up. If you want to go in search of the adults, focus your efforts below the White River for surface action. The White River is a bit clouded up, but will continue to improve as the precipitation subsides. We just received a shipping container full of Chubbies...literally! These flies have been the hot ticket for the last two years and counting. We won't run short on them this year and you had better not either. See ya soon!
